CARING FOR THE PEOPLE
As outlined in a Code of Conduct, KARL LAGERFELD aims to offer safe, healthy and fair working conditions for all workers across its value chain. In 2019, KARL LAGERFELD became a member of amfori BSCI, to continuously monitor and improve its impact in this area. To further increase the scale of its efforts, as of 2023, KARL LAGERFELD is measuring and improving its supply chain through the standardized Higg Facilities Social & Labor Module (Higg FSLM) as part of our Sustainable Apparel Coalition membership, which promotes safe and fair labor conditions for value chain workers worldwide.

CARING FOR THE PLANET
The Maison KARL LAGERFELD is committed to reducing its environmental impact to Net Zero by 2050 and is taking the necessary steps to drastically lower its energy consumption and Green House Gas (GHG) emissions. In 2022, the Maison worked to define its baseline for direct GHG emission reductions; in 2023, it’s continuing this assessment and expanding its scope to indirect reductions throughout the KARL LAGERFELD value chain, as well as logistics processes and other steps in the product life cycle.
Furthermore, KARL LAGERFELD tracks its environmental brand performance through the Higg Brand and Retail Module and asks its supply chain partners to measure and improve their environmental performance through the Higg Facilities Environmental Module (Higg FEM). KARL LAGERFELD is also committed to achieving its Fashion Pact goals (see more below).
The KARL LAGERFELD team is based at its Amsterdam headquarters, which has been renovated with innovative design elements to create the least environmental impact possible.

COMMITMENTS
FASHION PACT
In 2019, KARL LAGERFELD was proud to be one of the first signatories to join the Fashion Pact, a global coalition of companies in the fashion and textile industry that are dedicated to specific environmental goals. With this, KARL LAGERFELD committed to achieving science-based targets in three core areas — stopping global warming, restoring biodiversity and protecting the oceans — with an overall aim to reach Net Zero by 2050.

OPEN SUPPLY HUB
KARL LAGERFELD has started working with the Open Supply Hub to demonstrate its commitment to transparency. The Open Supply Hub exists to improve human rights and environmental conditions in and around factories by opening up social chain data as free, public good. When everyone working in global supply chains enjoys equal access to quality, open-licensed data, it leads to more sustainable and equitable outcomes for the most vulnerable communities affected by the retail sector. KARL LAGERFELD has published the first suppliers list in March 2023.
